bike racing sucks, I quit

I forgot to post these pics up I took last week. River buddy that’s been sitting in a tree outside my office. Red tailed hawk. He is mighty huge.

This is the last week of cross season. Can’t say I am too sad about that. But I am a little sad that I lost a whole season (to bad results) carrying the athsma and bronchitis, whatever. At least I’m getting back to form now for the final races, which by the way, are in RI next weekend. If you come Saturday and yell at me I’ll give you one of these pins:

I was excited to find out the Damned were playing up in Boston, in a few weeks, at the Paradise. Them being one of my favorite bands, and the timing perfect as it coincided with some of my vacation time. A perfect opportunity to see one of the all-time greats.That is, until I went to buy tickets online this morning.

$70 a ticket!!!

WTF!!!  I think the last time I saw the Damned at Lupos (quite a number of years ago) it was like $15, and I thought that was too much.

What the hell is the world coming to?

If anyone has been wondering why I have been racing so poorly lately, I found out the reason today.

I have fucking asthma.

And, I have been rocking a sweet case of bronchitis for god knows how many weeks. Racing with bronchitis. Wonder how much that has been holding me back?

I knew something was wrong…. there ya have it.

I was riding my bike through RIC today at lunch, I noticed this line of black cars with US Gov’t plates. Also 2 black SUV’s bookmarking the entrance to the library and a whole bunch of guys in black suits and ear pieces around (and some State Police) - I took a pic of the library entrance with my camera phone, and a guy jumped out of one of the cars and asked me what the hell I was doing there. He asked me for some ID but, of course I didn’t have any since I was riding my bike, so I had to explain I was just out for a training ride, and was just curious who was there, etc. He told me to “get moving”…so I did.

I think this must have been Canton, judging by the conditions, and the state of minor intensity on my face. Note the manual wind father-in law’s watch, puckering on skinsuit, and drool forming on lip.

Since I quit racing cyclocross, I have taken up cigarettes. Granted they are only the candy kind.
