Hick Blokes?
Why is it that the biggest “hick” bands are all British? Seriously, think about it, The Who, Led Zeppelin, Rush, Queen, Motorhead, the Beatles…I could go on.
I’m just thinking back to high school and all the Foster hicks wearing t-shirts with any of the aforementioned monikers emblazened, along with a pair of moccasins or “shit-kickers” (we called Foster-sneakers because they would wear boots to gym class) and all topped off with one of those awful black “flat” Spanish cowboy hats. I don’t know what you call them, but I think John Paul Jones is wearing them in one of the pictures on the Physical Graffiti album. The best was those frilly brown leather indian jackets. That was the cherry on the sundae for me. I think Bob Plant wore one too, so there ya go.
Anywho, how is that a bunch of kick ass British bands ended up dressing like a bunch of American hippy-hicks? Thats what I want to know.
