Friday slowness

Did a nice easy spin this a.m. with Matt and Kipp. Matt took some pics. Yesterday I did hard intervals on the bike path. 5 minutes on, 1 min off, 4 min. on, 1 off, etc…, all the way down to 1 minute, then back up. I was completely wrecked after the last interval, so it felt good to spin the soreness out this morning, with good conversation. Tomorrow is either Charge Pond, or if it rains, I might go for a mountain bike ride. We’ll see.

Frank is born

Well, with Matt’s help, the Salsa Dos Niner was finished last night, and I must say, it is quite an intimidating looking machine. The “Dos Niner” moniker indicates that it has 29″ wheels, unlike most XC bikes, which have 26″. That makes it somewhat of a freak…much like it’s new owner. We decided it should be named “Frank”, short for Frankenstein.. I know, we’re geeks…And now, for the photo montage of this week’s big bike build that went on down in the “Basement of Pain”.

Tomorrow I’m taking the bitch out for sea trials….Adios!

Time to shave up

Tomorrow is the first organized road race of the year for me. Its the Charge Pond crit series out on the Cape. I know some may think I’m starting a bit too early, but the legs are feeling pretty dang good this week and I think it’ll be good for me. In the back of my mind, I do know that it is a long way to cross nats in December.

Shit, I might even do both the “A” and “B” races. just to get in the double workout…(and to see if I can try a “Merckx rideaway” in the B’s.)

Boxes that I hope don’t get crushed

Today, supposedly, my build kit will arrive for my new MTB rig (Salsa Dos Niner). Wheels, brakes, derailluers, cables, chainrings, casettes, you name it, it’ll be sitting in a big box on my stoop this afternoon.

Now I just have to plan how I’m gonna get out of work early, so I can get home and intercept the $1500 packages, before I find the parcels runned over by my wife’s little red Volkswagen.

Caesarian Salad

My new thing, on days where I don’t train at lunch, is to go down and get an awesome $6 Caesar salad (gotta keep the weight down, yo), from the new place in our building. Comes with fresh bread and a side of tuna or chicken salad. Best part, is that I literally just walk down a flight of stairs and there is a brand-spankin-new cafe/deli splayed out right in front of me. No more freezing my balls off walking to Eagle Square crack-Subway

Icon Cafe….you rock!
