Sweet

These things happened this weekend:

 - I drove up to Maine for the Clifford Park Mountain Bike Race on Sunday. On the way up, I got a $240 speeding ticket outside Boston. This put me in a happy mood.

- Once at the race venue, I discovered that I have no skills at riding up (or down) rock faces. I crashed during my warm up and mashed my nuts on the back of my saddle.

- The race itself was unbelieveably technical and hard. I got my doors blown off, plain and simple. The guys from Maine just rode away from me and there was nothing I could do. I finished in 9th place - I’m surprised I even finished in the top ten because I had pretty much all but given up after crashing 5 times. First time off the podium in a MTB race all season.

- I did a sweet face and chest plant for no apparant reason on a section of wide open trail, then almost got run over by the guys who were chasing me. Later, I also got steered off course by a small tree that guided me into a nice ravine of jagged rocks. I did a headwalk on one of those rocks. I mushed my helmet and I think I had a mild concussion the rest of the day. However, I did not break my neck.

- I built my wife a sweet-ass road race bike and it doesn’t fit her.
