My summer racing finally wrapped up this week. Now I’m on a sweet rest week, and thinking about things like gluing cross tubulars and what body parts I need to sell so I can build my CX bike.
Last week I moved up to Mountain Bike Expert, and did the Hodges Dam race. It went OK except I got stung inside my throat by a bee, had some suspect chest pains, and then dehydrated horribly - it was all capped off by some sweet dry heaves and a bout of the chills. Other than that it was a great day at the races :). At least I finished 9th and already qualified for nats next year.
Thursday Chuck and I won the Rehobeth Two Man Timetrial. I won’t bother to bore you with the details, but if you really want to be bored, you can read Chuck’s race report.
Then, on Sunday, I woke up at 6am. Went out and put a new roof on my woodshed. Then I drove down to Ninegret and did the Pro 1,2,3 race at the Mystic Velo Criterium. I have to say, this was one of the best crits I’ve ever had. Fitness wise and fun-wise I felt really good. Racing with the 123’s is awesome because there is always something going on, and you’re on the rivet the whole time. And everyone can ride their bikes, which is a plus. Many guys proceeded to get kicked off the back, but I endured, and though the field got lapped, I felt great about the race and the good training I gleaned.
